2.2. OPEN NEW CURVES

AKTS Thermokinetics Software is capable of reading all ASCII sources from any thermoanalyzer type. If you would like to expand this capability for other data type, please contact your AKTS AG representative at info_contact@akts.com or call AKTS AG directly.

Selection of ASCII files

On the ‘File’ menu, simply point to ‘Open New Curve’ and select the file that you want to open.

The data from any ASCII sources can be entered in the AKTS Thermokinetics Software by using the general interface presented below. Simply choose the combobox or the radio button to select the appropriate temperature, time and signal data columns. For DSC signal types you need to enter the mass of your sample if the units are given only in mW. Then click on the ‘OK’ button.

Select the type of data that you entered and click on OK.

Repeat the previous procedure for all other heating rates. You are requested to enter at least three heating rates because the noticeable weakness of the ‘single curve’ methods has led to acceptance of the ‘multi-curve’ methods over the past few years [1-3].

(For a chosen sample mass the experimental data are usually given in mW or mW/mg for DSC data => units of signal S(T) = [mW/mg])
