TG-EGA Systems |

Cautions
1) Since the diffusivity of the evolved gas in the carrier gas
influences of the shape of the EGA-curves, it is necessary to
use such a carrier gas in which the diffusivity of the evolved
gas is low.
2) Since the carrier gas flow rate influences the time lag
between the measured DTG and EGA curves, a minimal total gas
flow rate has to be determined above which no significant
difference between input (DTG) and output signal (EGA curves)
can be observed.
Therefore, the minimal required carrier gas flow rate becomes
larger with:
- higher diffusivity of the evolving species in the carrier
gas
- larger distance between the thermoanalyzer and EGA system
- larger volume of the thermoanalyzer chamber
However, a high carrier gas-flow rate results in a decrease in
the evolved gas intensity recorded by the EGA system.
